To nurture the brightest of minds!
Our pre-primary comprises three levels: grade 000, grade 00 and grade 0. Emphasis in this phase is placed on developing school readiness, confidence, gross- and fine-motor skills, problem-solving, social skills, and of course, reading, writing, arithmetic, and computational thinking.
Our primary school is designed specifically to cater for the unique needs of academically and/or intellectually gifted children. Pupils learn through self-selected and fully integrated themes, with premium placed upon enrichment, individualism, academic excellence, and most importantly, the critical thinking skills.
Our high school aims to accommodate the needs of intellectually / academically minded individuals who seek smaller classes, an accepting environment and an atmosphere of curiosity and passion for growth, while pursuing an excellent matric qualification.

Radford House is a small, private school nestled in the suburb of Fairland, Johannesburg.
At Radford, we cater for the unique needs of high-potential or “gifted” learners in a stimulating, relaxed, homely, and fun environment.
Our dream was to build a school which brought the fun back into the learning process. To nurture the brightest of minds in an environment where there are fewer limits imposed on the children, and where knowledge and thought are embraced as a wonderful opportunity, rather than a chore imposed by parents or legislation.
The key to future happiness is to develop the life skills needed to make our own choices, so that young people do not have to rely on the decisions of others. Each pupil must be seen and treated as an individual – with unique needs, capacities and interests, and this feat can only truly be accomplished by fostering a close working relationship with the parents and other care-givers.
We pride ourselves on our small classes, due to the value placed on our ability to individualise and personalise the daily approach and nurture each young person placed in our care, to become the best version of themselves. We believe in educating children holistically, always with their emotional, physical, and social wellbeing in mind, while stimulating and satisfying the intellectual hunger that drives and fuels them.

All our pupils are assessed by an educational psychologist, to determine whether they possess the requisite intellectual and emotional capacity and demand an enriched / specialised educational approach.
Once assessed, all learners are invited to visit our school to experience first-hand the environment, their peers, our teachers, and our unique approach. Visit durations typically range from 3-7 days.
During the visiting period, pupils will be required to complete a few educational assessments in the attempt to determine their academic level.
When child, parent and school are satisfied that the pupil will thrive at Radford, it’s simply a matter of paperwork.
Our school motto is, “Let the Light Shine” – in reference to the profound number of highly intelligent, creative individuals who, for a variety of reasons, have rarely had the opportunity to exercise and revel in their wonderful, natural propensity for problem-solving, critical thinking, and integrated learning. It is our ambition to see these gifts unleashed, so that our kids can soar – the way they were meant to!
